Meet Ashley
I'm Ashley Parsons—dressage trainer, mother of three, and founder of Beyond Breath & Bridle.
For much of my life, horses were where I felt strongest, most confident, and most at home. But after the birth of my second daughter, everything changed.
A birth injury left me struggling physically, emotionally, and mentally in ways I never expected. I found myself disconnected from my body, questioning my confidence, and wondering if I would ever truly feel like myself again.
As I searched for healing, I discovered something that transformed not only my recovery, but the way I viewed riding, motherhood, and life itself: our nervous systems matter. The way we breathe, move, process stress, and relate to ourselves shapes everything—including our connection with our horses.
What began as my own journey back to strength and trust became the foundation for Beyond Breath & Bridle.
Today, I blend my experience as a rider, trainer, and mother with nervous system regulation, mindfulness, movement, and rider biomechanics to help equestrian women feel calmer, more connected, and more confidence—both in and out of the saddle.
My mission is simple: to create a space where women feel supported, understood, and empowered to heal, grow, and come home to themselves again.
Healing, Connection, and Coming Home to Yourself Again
Beyond Breath & Bridle was born during one of the most vulnerable seasons of my life.
After the birth of my second daughter, I experienced a birth injury that left me struggling physically, emotionally, and mentally in ways I never expected. As a rider, trainer, and mother, I suddenly felt disconnected from my body, my confidence, and even from parts of myself I had always trusted.
Trying Harder Wasn’t the Answer
I searched endlessly for ways to “fix” the physical symptoms. I focused on strength, recovery, pushing through, and getting back to normal as quickly as possible. But underneath it all, I was exhausted, overwhelmed, anxious, and carrying a level of stress and disconnection I didn’t fully understand at the time.
For a long time, I approached healing the only way I knew how — by trying harder.
And the truth is… my body knew it.
"Healing didn't begin when I pushed harder. It began when I finally felt safe enough to slow down"
A New Approach to Healing
Everything began to shift when I stopped viewing healing as only physical.
I started learning about the nervous system, breathwork, mindfulness, emotional regulation, and the deep connection between our bodies, our emotions, and the way we move through the world — both in and out of the saddle.
I began slowing down. Listening to myself differently. Giving myself permission to heal more gently.
Little by little, I started finding my way back.
Not just as a rider. But as a woman.
What I See in Equestrian Women
Through my own healing journey, I began noticing the same patterns everywhere I looked.
I saw women carrying fear after falls, injuries, and setbacks.
Women navigating pregnancy, postpartum recovery, and changing bodies while trying to hold onto the parts of themselves they loved.
Women who loved their horses deeply but struggled with anxiety, self-doubt, perfectionism, and the pressure to always be strong.
Women who were taking care of everyone around them while quietly feeling exhausted, disconnected, and overwhelmed.
Women who questioned whether they were good enough.
Whether they were brave enough.
Whether they could trust themselves again.
And beneath all of it, I saw something deeper.
I saw women whose nervous systems had been carrying more than anyone realized.
Stress. Fear. Responsibility. Grief. Expectations. The constant pressure to push through and keep going.
Not because they were weak.
Because they were human.
I realized I wasn't alone in what I had experienced.
Neither were they.
And that realization became the heart of Beyond Breath & Bridle.
Why Beyond Breath & Bridle Was Created
Beyond Breath & Bridle was created as a space for those women who love their horses deeply but sometimes forget to care for themselves with the same compassion.
- A space where horsemanship meets nervous system support.
- Where confidence is built through connection instead of force.
- Where healing is approached holistically.
- Where riders can feel supported emotionally, mentally, and physically — not just trained harder.
My Approach
My approach blends classical horsemanship, nervous system regulation, breathwork, movement, mindfulness, and rider biomechanics to support women as whole human beings—not just riders. Together, these tools help create more confidence, connection, resilience, and ease both in and out of the saddle.
You Are Welcome Here
Whether you’re:
- rebuilding trust after fear or injury,

If you see yourself anywhere in these words, you are welcome here.
The Goal of Beyond Breath & Bridle
- ✦ Compassion over criticism
- ✦ Connection over force
- ✦ Curiosity over judgment
- ✦ Nervous system safety before performance
- ✦ Support for the whole woman—not just the rider
"Because sometimes true transformation doesn’t begin by pushing harder. Sometimes it begins by learning how to breathe again."
You don't have to navigate healing, confidence, motherhood, or riding alone.
